Pastor Bert’s Bits for July 2010

Psalms 105:1-5“O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.

2  Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. 3  Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. 4  Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

5  Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;”

Praise the Lord for all that has and is happening at Faith Baptist Church. We have just completed the first annual Trustee and wives retreat in Fruitland, Florida at the Life Enrichment Center. What a wonderful and Blessed time we had as we focused in on the work of the Lord and the direction He wants us to go in the coming years.

First, I would like to thank all of you for your prayers for Faith and for me as your pastor. Without those prayer many of the issues that we face and the obstacles we encounter could not be overcome.

One night in late May, God woke me in the middle of the night and laid on my heart these word  “Focus on Faith!” I began to pray and seek God’s direction and it is my belief that God wants us to Focus our Faith, on Souls, on our Families, on our Doctrine, on our Youth and our Seniors, on our Finances and on Everything that we do! So this year as we continue to “Catch the Vision” that God has given us here at Faith Baptist Church, and as we continue to train believers All the Way to Eternity, we will do it by our Focus on Faith”. This is our motto for the 2010-2011 year and we want to apply it to everything we do!

Many issues were discussed and set in motion during the “Focus on Faith Trustee’s retreat”:

Expand the present kitchen and completely refurbish it with a new stove, new cabinets, new sink, and more area.

Expand children’s classroom by knocking out wall to storage area at end of hall.

Design and build a storage area for tables and flower arrangements.

Develop a children’s program for Sunday night to include Jr. High children as well as the younger ages.

Review the current constitution, make necessary changes and present those to the church membership for approval.

Design the Nursery with shelving and a changing station.

Update the sound system

Designed a new wedding procedures for members and non-members

Initiated an inventory list of church property

Discussed property acquisition, of both land and houses in the immediate area of the church.

Discussed and examined two building concepts for enlargement of the sanctuary and Sunday school area.

Developed the yearly calendar for the year 2010-2011

Determined that as a church we must develop a financial plan to insure that we can weather any financial impact

Redesign the front of the church by removing the flower area and making a walkway with shrubs to the parking area.

Covering the pipes that hold up the drive -thru roof with decorative covering

Borrow a small bus to see if a bus ministry is feasible and financially sound.

Finish the parking area by over spraying it with sealer and painting in parking lines.

Many other items were addressed and discussed during the retreat. Upon completion of the retreat we presented the issues and items of discussion to the church membership on Sunday night June 27, 2010.

All questions were answered as to the steps in which we will proceed, but the bottom line is that with God’s direction we want to go forward and build this church for the glory of God.

One important note is that ALL of the members, Trustee’s, and the Pastor have agreed that we will not put this church into debt.We will only do those things that can be paid for and at no time will we remove ourselves from the current debt free status!!!!!!!!

Please be in prayer as we “Focus on Faith” for the coming year. We are excited about the journey that lies ahead. We are united in our purpose to serve God, We are praying for God’s leading and direction. Today we begin the next step in the vision that God has presented to us and we want you to be part of it!

To those who are away, We love and miss you. We continue to pray for each of you, and look forward to your card’s and letter’s letting us know how you are doing.

Love in Christ,

Pastor Bert

Pastor Bert’s Bits:                                                                                                                 June 10, 2010

Faith Baptist Church is going strong and there is excitement in the family here as we watch God work in the most amazing way. Most of you who are reading this know that after the “snowbirds” fly home we have a slight let down in numbers. This year is quite different as many new faces are in services, the numbers are up (152 last Sunday) and the children’s ministries are going stronger than ever. We are rejoicing in the blessing we are receiving every service, for instance this last Sunday we had Pastor Osteen speak, His wife sang a beautiful special, we had the Lord’ supper, and at the end of the service we had a young lady baptized.

A new nursery is in the works as the Bingham’s were busy with the paint brushes and moving of furniture, so that the 3 babies that have been coming have a place to lay their heads. The end room is getting a makeover and will be ready for the Junior class in a short while. On Wednesday night we are outgrowing the rooms and have had to move the children to the fellowship hall with 12-18 children per night.

Some items you may have missed while away are:

Russ Floyd had dual knee operations and is currently recuperating at home with some pain.

Fred Coventry is still battling his cancer, and is now going to Tampa for further tests.

Roger Sands has just returned from a quick trip to Haiti.

Teresa and Donnie Frederick are moving to Hilliard Florida and will be greatly missed.

Andrea Negron has been voted in as the replacement treasure.

Work is still going on Route 60 with the final lanes being put in

We have Old Paths Quartet scheduled for Saturday and Sunday on August  28th and 29th for a revival.

All of the Trustees and their wives, along with Sallie and myself, will be going on a retreat June 24-26 to plan the church vision for the coming years. We will be staying in Fruitland Florida at Lake Griffin and look forward to an exciting time of fellowship and planning.

The Lord has blessed us financially as all of our bills are being paid and we have not had to get concerned about falling behind on our financial commitments.

We have just taken on John Malimai from the island of Yap as our newest missionary, and unfortunately had to decline to support CrossLife ministries of Vero Beach due to difference in philosophy of ministry and their spending of funds which far outweigh their mission statement. Our mission committee is doing a great job as are all of our family members here at Faith.

We miss all those of you who have fled north for summer and look forward to your return. Please keep us up to date on your conditions and prayer needs. Drop us a post card so we can hear how you are doing.  We have the winter schedule for our Gospel Music all planed and Nate and the orchestra are blessing us each Sunday.

We love you all and pray that you and yours are blessed richly.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Bert
